Beaches in Ireland

Welcome to Beaches in Ireland by Irish Property World, your source of information about the best beaches in Ireland.

If Ireland had better weather, Hawaii would be under pressure for the title of surfing capital of the world. Long curved beaches, golden sands, rocky strands, cliff paths, small, quiet, windsurfing, swimming, boogie boarding, surfing and sailing. The windsurfing world championship was held recently at Rosses Point in Sligo, and the entire western seaboard is littered with magnificent beaches for surfing and all water sports.

There are a total of 70 Blue Flag beaches in Ireland this year (2004, the number varies from year to year), and for a country that's not, let's face it, the biggest rock in the garden then this is quite an achievement.

The Blue Flag flying over a beach tells you that it has reached strict criteria as set and policed by the European Union, including water quality, coastal quality, good environmental management, and safety along with several other more obscure marks of quality such as sufficient litter bins, environmental education activities, restricted access for animals, and readily available first aid points.
